Dryden Community/Land Use Planner

The Town of Dryden is looking to expand our team by adding a professional planner as we embark on
many projects to build a more sustainable future. There are many exciting projects currently underway
including: rewriting our Zoning and Subdivision Laws to support our recently updated comprehensive plan, expanding a rail trail network that crosses our entire township, constructing a municipal broadband fiber network to bring this utility to all of our residents, expanding sewer and water infrastructure to support more affordable housing, and implementing a list of initiatives that make us a Climate Smart Community. We are seeking a planner with the energy and skill to participate in that work and more.

Our Town government has ten boards and committees that advise the Town on key focus areas and express the values of our community. These community volunteers bring expertise and passion to their service and demonstrate a level of community engagement that we can be proud of.

Working under the general supervision of the Planning Director this new planner position would support the work of many of these boards. You would also be researching and reporting on site plan, special use permit, subdivision and planned unit development applications. Guiding applicants to properly implement those plans would then involve site inspections and enforcement of zoning laws. Important work would also include researching and drafting amendments to our Zoning and Subdivision Laws to implement the goals expressed in our comprehensive plan. Work with the Zoning Board of Appeals includes researching and reporting on variance applications and other matters that come before that quasi-judicial board. In the Town’s effort to improve our resiliency to climate change we are undertaking a variety of climate/energy related projects and this position may be supporting or leading
some of those efforts.

There is a lot of activity in our Town and we are expanding our team to meet the challenge. If this
