The Housing Assistance Program of Essex County (HAPEC) is seeking to hire an Associate Director. This position is an executive level position within HAPEC and is responsible for assisting the Executive Director in the execution of the strategic and operating goals set by the Board of Trustees. The role of the Associate Director is to enhance the operating capacity of the organization to deliver high quality programs to the people and communities we serve. This is a highly responsible administrative and supervisory position involving the overall effective management of the agency. The AD will develop a deep knowledge of the organization’s operations, programs, and strategic plan; and will act as the management partner to the Board, ED, and Program Managers. The Associate Director is responsible for assisting the ED in directing all activities and general administration of established rules, regulations, and policies. Work involves responsibilities for planning and implementation of agency goals and objectives. This employee is directly responsible to the Executive Director.
The position requires a seasoned, mission-focused, and process minded individual with experience executing on vision and strategy through day-to-day operations, contract oversight, administrative management, and grant writing. The successful applicant must exhibit a high degree of maturity and personal integrity, strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative work approach, and will be self-motivated and comfortable in an evolving and growing organization. Desirable qualifications include: graduation from an accredited four-year college or university; an extensive level of experience in public administration or not-for-profit management; extensive grant writing and administration, and having progressively responsible administrative and supervisory experience in community development and planning activities.
