ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNER

Duties include the development and coordination of environmental planning projects: assistance to county department and agencies in regard to watershed projects; reviewing and analyzing sewer and water systems or extensions; solid waste management systems; storm water management plans; flood and erosion control; grant preparation; SEQRA and NEPA reviews; circuit-riding to provide technical assistance to municipal planning officials, and local governments, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:  Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college with a Bachelors degree in engineering and one year engineering experience, which shall have included environmental projects such as sewer and water systems, solid waste, etc.; OR Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or technical institute with an Associates Degree in Engineering Technology or related field and three years of engineering experience two of which shall have included environmental projects such as sewer and water systems, solid waste, etc. or five years of experience in assisting in civil engineering work, which shall have included at least three years involving environmental projects such as sewer and water systems, solid waste, etc.; OR Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college with a Bachelors degree in planning natural resource management or related field and two years’ experience, which shall have included experience in environmental projects such as sewer and water systems, solid waste, etc.; OR Masters degree in planning natural resource management or related field and one year of experience, which shall have included experience in environmental projects such as, sewer and water systems, solid waste, etc.; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits above.

Annual Salary:  $57,127.00.

NOTE: A valid New York State driver’s license is required at time of appointment and maintained during employment. Civil Service position. EOE.
