DIRECTOR OF PLANNING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

The County of Warren is seeking candidates to fill the position of the Director of Planning and Community Development. The position is responsible for overseeing the operations of all Divisions within the Department and will also directly undertake activities related to economic development and housing. The successful candidate will join an office of nine to assist local governments in land use planning, local law development and revision, general technical support to the County Board of Supervisors and other County Departments.

Warren County is home to beautiful Lake George and offers an exceptional environment for work and play. Located in the southeastern corner of the Adirondack Park, the County is home to approximately 66,000 residents with a significant seasonal population. The economic base of the County is a mix of medical device manufacturing, wood products industries and four-season tourism.

SALARY: $86,153- 104,669 Commensurate with experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either:
a) Master’s degree in planning, architecture, geography, landscape architecture or closely related field and six (6) years of full-time work experience (or its part-time equivalence) in municipal, community or regional planning, 2 years of which must have involved supervisory responsibilities; OR
b) Bachelor’s degree in planning, architecture, geography, landscape architecture or closely related field and seven (7) years of full-time work experience (or its part-time equivalence) in municipal, community or regional planning, 2 years of which must have involved supervisory responsibilities.
NOTE: The position will be filled based upon Civil Service requirements.
