St. Lawrence County Planning Office is in search of:
Planner II
Salary: $55,741 with excellent benefits as described below

Duties of the position: This is professional planning work involving responsibility for the performance of a variety of municipal, regional, or community planning assignments. The incumbent is either responsible for specific phases of advanced planning projects or may be in charge of a major phase of a moderately complex study. This class differs from that of Planner by virtue of the performance of projects of greater scope and difficulty and greater independence of action in planning and carrying out assignments. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Planning. A Senior Planner may act as a lead worker over lower level technical and clerical staff or specific projects, but does not exercise formal supervision. The incumbent does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either:
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master’s degree in planning, engineering, urban geography; landscape architecture, public administration, environmental studies or a related field and two (2) years of experience in municipal, community or regional planning; OR
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in planning, engineering, urban geography, landscape architecture, public administration, environmental studies or related field and three (3) years of experience in municipal, community or regional planning.
Additional Employment Information: This is a provisional appointment. The successful applicant will need to take a civil service examination and score within the top three interested candidates in order to be permanently appointed.
