The Monroe County Department of Planning and Development is seeking a qualified person to fill a professional planning position. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering the development review process (GML 239-l, m, & n) for Monroe County. Work involves the interpretation and application of laws, rules and regulations governing land use controls. The Planner will also use GIS to manage data and create maps related to planning initiatives, economic development, community development, and the airport.
Minimum Qualifications: a Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, geography, environmental sciences, geology, landscape architecture, or closely related field (natural resource planning, agricultural planning, water resource planning, economic development or housing planning), plus three years paid full-time equivalent research or planning experience OR, a Bachelor’s degree including successful completion of twenty-seven semester credit hours in Land Use Planning or Environmental Science or related field, plus four years of paid full-time experience; OR, a Master’s degree in urban planning, geography, environmental planning, environmental sciences, geology, landscape architecture, or a closely related field, plus one year of experience.
