NPV is seeking a self-motivated and energetic individual looking to enter the professional planning field. The Planner will have the opportunity to work with our senior level planning staff at our Hudson Valley Office, located in Suffern, New York.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research, data gathering, baseline analysis, writing and document preparation in
support of land use and environmental planning assignments. - Create maps, visual charts, and graphics to be used in documents and in support of analyses.
- Assist senior planners with land use application reviews, environmental reviews in accordance
with SEQRA, and preparing baseline studies and reports related to the planning field. - Attend occasional evening board meetings as needed to assist senior staff.
Skill Requirements
- Significant understanding and interest in the planning profession.
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in planning or a related undergraduate program such as environmental studies, geography, urban studies, economics, mathematics, biology, architectural history, public health, political science, humanities or writing is required, although
consideration will be given to candidates scheduled to graduate from a degree program within
the next six months. - Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS and experience with Sketchup and Adobe Photoshop or Corel
Graphics Suites is encouraged. - Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Adobe Acrobat proficiency is needed.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required.
Salary and Benefits
NPV offers a competitive salary commensurate with level of education and professional experience and offers medical and other benefits. The salary range for this position is between $45,000 and $65,000, depending on level of experience. See www.nelsonpopevoorhis.com .
